Dice la proteómica: cerebro y sistema inmune, los que más influyen en la longevidad

La estimación de la edad biológica de sistemas y órganos, a partir de datos de casi 3000 proteínas plasmáticas, ha revelado que un cerebro y un sistema inmune “juveniles” se asociaron con un menor riesgo de mortalidad, por lo que parecen ser dianas atractivas para extender la longevidad. Potencialidades de la proteómica en las enfermedades neurodegenerativas

El Consorcio Global sobre Proteómica y Neurodegeneración ha publicado algunos resultados con potenciales aplicaciones en el diagnóstico y tratamiento de la enfermedad de Alzheimer, el párkinson, la demencia frontotemporal, el deterioro cognitivo y el envejecimiento. La serie de reportes, algunos de acceso abierto, es divulgada hoy, 15 de julio, en Nature portfolio.

Proteínas sanguíneas podrían anunciar el cáncer de pulmón

Un conjunto de 36 proteínas plasmáticas se asociaron con riesgo inminente de diagnóstico de cáncer de pulmón. Entre ellas, factores de crecimiento (HGF, IGFBP-1, IGFP-2), citocinas (TNFRSF6B, TNFRSF13B) y quimiocinas (CXL17), según The Lung Cancer Cohort Consortium. Proponen Proyecto Proteoforma Humano

Para abordar la diversidad de formas de las proteínas humanas, a partir de los polimorfismos genéticos, las variantes de procesamiento de ARN y las modificaciones postraduccionales, se propone iniciar el Proyecto Proteoforma Humano.
